2009 Was a Good Year...

Thanks to everyone of you for such an incredible year here at Sixth Avenue Skatepark.  I started thinking about everything we did, and realized just how much fun we had.  Here is a bit of a summary for you:

January was cold... very cold... and so we really just skated the park a lot hoping to keep warm.  In February we started it off right with the Mind Field premier, and then later that month we had our 6th Anniversary Skateboard Contest.  In March we had a crazy packed week of Spring Break Camps, in April we had our 3rd Annual Young Guns Contest... lots of little dudes killing it.  It finally started warming up a bit in May and the DC Team came through Nashville, we hosted the Hometown Heros contests, and then some of the Sixth Ave dudes went to ATL to skate at the Backyard BBQJune was HOT and we started it off with the FUN! video premier, followed by our annual King of Cashville video scavenger Hunt... and of course we had some Go Skateboarding Day festivities as well.  July had a lot of Summer Skateboard Camps, and on the 11th we hosted the Gatorade Free Flow Skateboard ContestAugust meant school was going to start back up and so we had an all night Lock-In, the guys at DGK came and skated the park with everyone, Randy made a summer-end montage, and the Tennessee Beast hosted the 1st ever Tennesse Skateboard Swap Meet! September was fairly uneventful, but in October we raised $760 for our friend Ily's Medical bills with the Cornucopia of Gnarlidude contest... and then we filled the bowl with 3000 balloons and had a huge balloon bowl session on Halloween.  In November we showed the new Black Label Video - God Save the Label and change up the park a bit, and in December we skated outside a whole lot because it was uncommonly warm.

If you took the time to read that whole thing... and you clicked all the links to see what went down at all those events... well then I am impressed.

This next year is going to be crazy, but it is going to be even better then last year.  Sometime in the next 6 months or so we will be moving buildings - very close to our current location.  This has been taking up a lot of time and energy, but in the end will mean a new park for all of you to skate... so BE EXCITED!  You can look forward to a lot of contests, events, video premiers, demos, and everything else... and in the next few weeks you will start seeing some of that info on the site.  Thank you again for an amazing year, and we are looking forward to 2010... here we go... 7 years and counting.
